About the Author Irene Maddox has been associated with music in almost every way possible--she has sung, taught music in public schools, been a church accompanist, played professionally in orchestras and Broadway shows; she has performed as a soloist in the United States and Europe in front of symphony orchestras, as part of chamber groups, and as part of a flute-guitar duo.
She teaches flute in her Charlotte, North Carolina studio as well as on the staff of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Queens College.
She performs with organist Mark Andersen as the Andersen-Maddox Duo, who record exclusively for International Artists (United States) and Philips (Europe).
A native of Texas and a graduate of North Texas State University, where she received both her BA and MME degrees, Mrs.
Maddox has studied in Europe with internationally acclaimed flutist Jean-Pierre Rampal.
She is founder of the Charlotte Flute Association and an officer of the National Flue Association.
