Victor Bourgeois (1897-1962) was the leading pioneer of the international modernist movement in Belgium, and a key player on the European scene.
He was invited in 1927 to design a house for the famous Weissenhof Estate in Stuttgart, an experimental housing estate built to showcase International Style modernism; and between 1928 and 1930 he played an important role in the International Congresses of Modern Architecture (CIAM), the most influential platform for modern architecture and urban.
